Cloud Based graphic design

A few weeks ago I added my name to a wait list to try out Microsoft Designer. Yesterday I was notified by Microsoft that I could start using the program. Designer is an AI assisted graphic design tool. It is, as advertised, very easy to use and can produce quite professional looking results.

With a simple text description of what you want Designer can produce a template in seconds, with many options to choose from. You can use art or photos from your own device, but there is the added option of using the built in AI image generator. (That is based on DALL-E 2.) Designer has all the cloud based goodness, such as being able to work on projects from multiple devices.

Designer can do all the work for you if you want, but there are plenty of ways to customize the work for yourself, if that is what you want. We have clearly moved beyond productivity apps facilitating content creation, but apps that create the content with minimal human direction.

This is another reason why the future of productivity apps might not be PCs but lower powered devices like phones and Chromebooks.
