AI generated art from Adobe

Adobe is introducing its own AI art generator called Firefly. All major software ecosystems are jumping on this bandwagon, but Adobe has one big advantage – they have a large pool of copyrighted material to train the AI. This removes one of the major objections many artist have with AI art, that being that the generator is in effect stealing their creative process.

Firefly has some other potentially impressive features based on Adobe’s impressive array of vector art products. Firefly will have a text to vector feature. (Other generators produce bitmaps.) This will have a huge impact on the vector producing sector, web design, and advertising workers.

In addition the ability to turn a 3D model into 2D art will be included.

I think the text to vector capability will be much more disruptive than text to image. Speaking from personal experience learning to use a vector art software is a significant investment of time. I would argue that vectors and good fonts are a more important part of good design than photographs and bitmaps. Adobe’s Firefly might be able to combine all three into a very easy to use tool. I can’t wait to try this myself.
